Life is not Easy
There are a certain number of people who just want to have fun in life. They will do just about anything to experience more pleasure or to miss having a painful experience. It appears to me that there are even Christians, who believe that God is supposed to take away all the bad stuff in life and give them all of the pleasures they want. If He doesn't cooperate, they get upset. What a false view of life!
Life is not easy. It is not just for pleasure. It has a serious purpose, and the painful things contribute to that purpose. We are here to see that our earthly life is not all there is to life. We are here to understand that life is eternal, and our destination for eternity is determined by what we do with Jesus. Life is to lead us to see that Jesus is Lord, and we need to trust Him and become like Him, because we can't forgive our own sins, and we can't live in our own power. Pain helps us realize that, so why would God take it all away?
My verses for today were Acts 14:19-20. Take time to read them. Paul, the faithful apostle of Jesus, was stoned. They thought they had killed him. They drug him out of town to die. Then, the disciples gathered around him. He got up, and went back to the city. He either came back to life, or he was miraculously healed from severe trauma. Unless God's Spirit cleaned him up, too, he was a mess. Do you know what he did the next day? He left to preach in more places. Paul knew that life was not easy. He knew the purpose of life, and he was fulfilling that purpose. I pray that we all do the same.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Acts 16-18.
