Discouragement

One of the main ways that Satan attacks us as Christians is to try to discourage us. Some of his attacks are subtle and some are very much head on, but he knows the things that tend to get us down, and he plays on them. Please, remember that God does not want us to be discouraged. Let me share a few reasons that we can always live in a state of being encouraged.

Romans 8 is full of encouragement, but verse 28 is so comforting to us in difficult times as it affirms that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. There are no exceptions.

Please, think about Philippians 4:13. We are able to do all things through Christ who strengthens us. Again, there are no exceptions. All things are possible with God.

God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (II Timothy 1:7) God does not cause you fear. He gives you the spirit of power and love and a sound mind to overcome all fear. Perfect love casts out all fear.

He is our Refuge and our Strength. He is our Strong Tower. We can run to Him or cry out to Him, and He is there for us.

Finally, there is I Corinthians 10:13. It tells us that our temptations are not worse than everyone else's trials. They are all common to all people. When we are a child of God, He will never let us be tempted beyond what we are able to endure, and with the temptation, He will give us a way of escape. Even if you can't see the way out at first, keep looking and calling. He will show you.

Therefore, we should never be discouraged, as long as we walk with the Lord in the power of the Holy Spirit. No weapon formed against us can ever be effective, for we are safe in His hands.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 32-34.
