Are We There Yet?

How many times have you heard that question from the kids as you took a road trip with the family? It seems that they start asking 5 minutes after you leave, and they keep it up the whole trip. After all, it is an important question for those who get bored and are ready to be out of the car.

Tonight, the International Mission Board report and presentation to the messengers of the SBC used that question as the theme. In this context it means something entirely different. It means, "Have we shared the Gospel with every people group in the world yet?" Unfortunately, the answer is "no." There are still 6,426 unreached people groups in the world. It is up to us to take the responsibility to reach them with the Gospel.

Jerry Rankin told us of a people who were finally told the Good News of Jesus, but they were hesitant to believe it, because they said that if it were true, someone would have come sooner to tell them. What a tragic response! However, I can see their point. If we really believe what we say we believe, how can we neglect to give and to go into all the world as quickly as possible, even if it means sacrificing the comforts of this world?

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 69-71.
