The Spiritual Realm

I love the story of Elisha and his servant in II Kings 6. They were surrounded by the Syrian army in Dothan. The servant was scared to death when he looked out to see the huge army around them, but Elisha was calm. He could see the spiritual realm all around them, so he prayed for God to open the eyes of his servant. Then, he could see the horses and chariots of fire that were surrounding the Syrians. They were even more than the physical soldiers. He saw that he had nothing to fear.

We all need to live in that realization, that if we know the Lord, His protection is available to us. We need not fear what Satan can do, if we are following close to the Lord. Let me hasten to say that we can depart from the Lord. Jesus is under no obligation to follow us. We can leave His protection, if we so choose. It is up to us to stay in the center of His will like Elisha did. Then, we can know that we need not fear, "for those who are with us are more than those who are with them."

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 7-9.
