The Moral Decline in America
There is a lot of discussion about the problems in the USA now. Many people are focused on the economy and jobs. Others are concerned about illegal immigration. Still others think that climate change is the most pressing danger. I have a much different perspective.
I believe the most damaging problem in America is the moral decline of our people. When people live in immorality, it effects everything. The basic building block of society is the family. It is being destroyed by the moral decline. The economy is hurt when people do not have a strong work ethic and when they are bent on stealing. Even the environment is damaged by unscrupulous people who only want to make a profit. However, the overriding reason that moral decline is terrible for America is that it shows we are not right with God, and He can't bless us. His Word tells us that "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." If we don't have a revival in which God's people return to Him and those who don't know Him are drawn to salvation in Christ, our country will not make it, no matter how well the economy rebounds, or what is done about immigration or climate change. Our only hope is to repent of our sins and cry out to the One who is in control.
Tomorrow, I intend to read II Chronicles 29-32.
