Half Full or Half Empty
It makes a huge difference in life if we see the positive things, instead of always emphasizing the negative things. I am not talking about positive thinking. I am saying that there are always many positive things upon which we can focus. Sometimes, we call it counting our blessings. They are always there, but we may not notice them because we are too busy thinking about the negative things.
I believe that it shows us what kind of persons we are, too. Some people see the glass as half full, while others see the same glass as half empty. It all depends on our perspective. Some people are looking at the down-side of things all of the time. Others are looking at the up-side of things. Again, it makes a huge difference, if we are constantly seeing the glass as half full.
I think in each case we are being more like Jesus if we are thinking on the positive and seeing the glass as half full. Think of all of the trouble Jesus had with His disciples, but He still had faith in them. He saw their good side. In the end His optimism prevailed. What if He had been negative about those men? I think they would have sensed that He did not really have faith in them, and they would have let down themselves. Let's choose to be like Jesus in this way. It is easy to get down, but it is better to keep looking up. One sure way to stay up is to consider all of the blessings of the Lord. He is so faithful and His mercies are new every morning.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 27-29 and I Peter 3.
