Waiting on the Lord
One of the hardest things for us to do as humans is to wait for something. The same thing holds true for believers. It is difficult for us to wait on the Lord. We trust Him, but we want something to happen fast. Our inclination is to go ahead and do something even if it is wrong. That is a very bad way of living the Christian life.
Jesus has promised to lead us and to protect us. In Isaiah 40:31 He promises a new strength and a life of soaring like eagles for those who wait on the Lord. However, when we are faced with very stressful trials that is hard to see. Our desire is to escape the trial and get back to a place of peace and comfort. Sometimes, that does not happen very quickly. We are forced to make a decision. Will we wait on the Lord to direct us and to provide, or will we go forward in our own wisdom and power? It is always a disaster to fail to wait on Him. He sees the beginning and the end. He is able to speak to us and to move our hearts to where we should be. However, if we are plowing ahead, we may miss that still small voice of the Spirit. We may miss a roadblock.
I pray that each of us will have the courage and patience to wait on the Lord in expectation that He is guiding us to His perfect will. I pray that we will all experience that ability to run and to soar with the eagles. It is by far the best way to live, even though it is so difficult sometimes.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Deuteronomy 5-7 and Mark 11:1-18.
