Let Us Glory in the Lord - Psalms 100-102 and I Corinthians 1
Psalm 100 is a wonderful concise call to worship God and give Him all of the glory. It is easy for us to glory in our own abilities, if we are not careful. The truth is that we have nothing worthy of glory except what God has done for us, so He deserves all of the glory. In Psalm 101 David almost seems to be trusting in his own ability to stay away from evil. However, we all know what happened to him later. We can't glory in our strength. The fact is that people change, times change, but God stays the same. We can always trust Him as our constant source of all we need. Let us glory in the Lord.
I Corinthians tells of all of the problems in the church at Corinth. They were Christians, and they were gifted believers. They forgot to glory in the Lord. They were glorying in what they could do. They were giving glory to human teachers. They were missing God's will, because they were going by earthly wisdom. Paul exhorted them to stop glorying in anyone except Jesus. That is a good admonition for us today. Do not allow Satan to deceive you into thinking that you or anyone else is worthy of glory. Only God is worthy. Let us glory in Him and give Him all the thanks and praise.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 103-104 and I Corinthians 2.
