August 23, 2006 - Psalms 113-115 and I Corinthians 6
The Bible is so wonderful, because it is so simple and so profound at the same time. I hope you will take some time to consider the profound truths in our reading today. They will be a blessing to your life, if you will understand them and apply them in your life.
Psalm 113 declares that God humbles Himself to come down to the earth and raise the poor and needy out of the dust. That reminds me of Philippians 2. God is so awesome, but He is humble. He associates with us, and He loves us. If God is humble, we should be humble, too.
In Psalm 114 the psalmist rejoices in the fact that God came to dwell with Israel. Now, He lives in each believer. He did wonderful things for His people in the Old Testament, and He will do mighty things in and through you right now. Do you know that He lives in you?
Psalm 115 flatly states the truth that God is in heaven, and He will do whatever He pleases. You and I can't manipulate God to do our will. He does what He knows is right. That is part of being God. We should not want Him to do our will. We should do His will.
I Corinthians 6 tells us that one day we will judge the angels. Therefore, we should be able to judge things here in this world. It also reminds us that we have been bought with a price and joined to the Lord Jesus, so we should have a definite change in our lives. If not, we do not belong to Him. Do you see that the language points to us being betrothed and married to Jesus? How can that happen to a person and there be no real lasting change in his or her life?
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 116-118 and I Corinthians 7:1-19.
