June 27, 2006 - Job 8-10 and Acts 8:26-40
Sometimes, we give in to the lie that God does not care about what we are going through. When we doubt the love of God, we doubt His very nature, because God is love. In chapters 8-10 Bildad assures Job that God punishes the wicked, and He does not cast away the blameless. Job agrees with Bildad. (9:1) The problem is that Job's depression has led him to think that God does not really care about him. (v.16-18) Everything else Job says about God is correct, but this one thing is terribly wrong. This one false belief throws everything else off for Job, and it does the same for us. We must never doubt that God loves us more than we love ourselves, and that He has a wonderful plan for us, even if we don't understand our present circumstances. I pray that you know the deep love God has for you today. You can't go anywhere or do anything that would cause God not to love you. I hope you will settle that in your heart once and for all.
In Acts 8 we read about Philip's encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch. Philip is obedient to go to the desert. He meets the eunuch who has questions after his visit to Jerusalem. Philip tells him about Jesus, and he is saved and baptized. Has that ever happened to you? I don't mean being saved? I mean has God ever used you to touch a life with the Gospel and to see that person come to know Christ? Besides being saved, that is the greatest joy in life. Just to think that the God of the universe would use you and me to influence a soul for eternity. Of course, we don't have the power to save them. That comes from God. However, it is so wonderful to be a part of the process. We are blessed for our obedience to God, and we are blessed by seeing the birth of a new babe in Christ. It is a sacred moment. I pray that you will experience this many times in your life, and thus be very pleasing to God.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Job 11-13 and Acts 9:1-21.
