Finding Favor

There are times in our lives when we need someone to help us, and we are powerless to see it done ourselves. It could be we need legal representation, but we don't have the money to hire an attorney. Then, all of a sudden we get word that a lawyer has decided to help us for free. What a blessing to find favor in the eyes of another person like this! I pray for each of us to find favor in the eyes of the right person, no matter what we are going through now.

Esther was in a very precarious situation. Evil Haman got the king to sign a decree to have all of the Jews in the kingdom killed on a specific day. Her uncle, Mordecai, urged her to speak to the king about this matter. However, no one, not even the queen could approach the king without him calling them, or they would be killed. (Esther 5:2) So when the king saw Queen Esther in the court, she found favor in his sight, and he held out the golden scepter to her, so she could approach him, which she did very humbly. Because of finding his favor, she was able to approach the king and save her people from death.

So what is it that you need right now that is beyond your means to achieve it? What kind of favor do you need to receive to meet this need? I believe the Lord is watching to see just how serious you are about getting his help. In Esther's case she had all of the Jews in the capital city fast for 3 days, no food or drink, day or night. She and her maids did the same thing to reach out to God for His mercy before she went to the court of the king. God saw their fasting, and He intervened to save Esther's life and the Jews. Would we be willing to do the same type of thing.

I can give a personal testimony at this point. Several years ago, I was deeply concerned about a particular situation, and I knew it would take God's intervention, and He would have to allow someone to find favor with others. God laid it on my heart to undertake an Esther fast of no food or water for 3 full days. I found it to be very difficult and humbling for me, but God heard my prayer and the person for whom I was praying found favor. I am not saying this happens every time if we do an Esther fast, but I do believe if God tells us to do it, we should.
