A Complete Turnabout

It doesn't happen very often, but there are times in our lives when we can see the circumstances of our life change from being very terrible to being very good. We can see things going from being hopeless to being victorious. These things don't usually happen by human means. It takes the involvement of Almighty God to bring about a complete turnabout. When He does that for us, it is an amazing demonstration that nothing is impossible with God.

Haman went from being second in command to the king of Persia and securing the decree to kill all the Jews in the kingdom to being dead and all of his property being taken away. At the same time Mordecai and Esther went from being hated Jews to being safe and secure with the ability to protect themselves and all of the Jews. (Esther 8:2) The king took off his signet ring - which he had taken back from Haman - and gave it to Mordecai. And Esther appointed Mordecai to be in charge of Haman's property. I think here is a lesson for us here.

There are so many people in our society who are very depressed. I recently heard a report that a large percentage of people, especially young people and ladies are taking antidepressant medications. It seems this condition is getting worse and spreading instead of getting better. It seems this is true even with Christians. This is not God's will for anyone. God wants us to have the joy of the Lord and to realize that when we know Him and trust Him every day, we can have the sure hope that God is in control, and He can do anything.

The cause of depression is hopelessness. It is the feeling that things are going to get worse for us, no matter what we do. When we succumb to being hopeless, we will enter depression, even to the point of being suicidal. Medication is not the answer to this. Knowing God better is the answer. Of course, we all need to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior. He wants to give all of us the abundant life. (John 10:10) Then, we need to draw near to Him daily, so that we hear His voice assuring us of His love and His ability to bring a complete turnabout for us, if that is what is best for us. We just need to trust Him, not ourselves.
