Accepting Basic Reality

We live in a day and time when people do not want to accept the basic realities of life. It seems to me that they think what people have believed for thousands of years has been wrong, and they need to correct it now. That is a pretty arrogant position to take. After all, these realities are based on plain, observable things in the world around us. Of course, it may not be that they are arrogant. They may just be confused or misled by what some other people have decided is reality.

The Bible gives us one of these realities in a very simple, straightforward way. (Deuteronomy 22:5) God told Moses to tell the people that a woman must not put on men's clothing, and men must not wear women's clothing. Anyone who broke this command would become detestable in the sight of the Lord. This seems to me to be a very good way to address a problem that more and more people are having today. Let me try to explain what I mean.

Anyone with eyes can see that there are differences between men and women. There are definite differences in the anatomy of a man and a woman. Then, besides the physical differences, there are emotional and psychological differences between men and women. God has just made men think and feel different from women and vis versa. These differences make it only logical that men would wear clothes that fit their body and their work needs. The same goes for women. God commands us to do something very reasonable, but some people want to go against it.

It is interesting that God says that if anyone breaks this command, he or she will be detestable in His sight. That is very strong thing for God to say, since He is love, and He loves all of us. I believe He says this because  it really angers God for us not to accept His basic realities, and He realizes if we do that, we would lead others astray, too. We would be working against God. Please, don't do that. Ask God to help you accept this basic reality, and He will show you what to do based on just how He made you, either a man or a woman.
