Give Them Warning from God

There is an emergency warning siren on a pole on the road where I live. When it goes off, I can hear it, loud and clear. I believe it is activated by the National Weather Service and other local agencies to warn of impending danger of some sort. I also get warnings on my phone about weather and other possible threats. Each time I hear a warning, I stop to make sure I do the right thing to be protected from harm.

God made the prophet Ezekiel a watchman for the house of Israel. (Ezekiel 3:17) He instructed Ezekiel to hear a word from His mouth and give the house of Israel warning from Him. So Ezekiel was to do two things. He was to hear from God and to give a warning from God. I believe all of us, as Christians, have the same mandate from the Lord. We will be held accountable for how we warn others.

God has given us His Word, the Bible. It is filled with instructions and commands, as well as warnings. We are to treasure God's Word so that we read it, study it, and understand it well. Also, we have the Holy Spirit. He is in the world and in us to convict us of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Therefore, we can hear from God as the Spirit communicates a word from God. God does this for our benefit and for those around us.

Jesus said that we are the light of the world and the salt of the earth. Light shines in the darkness of error to show people the dangers of not following the Lord Jesus Christ. Salt is used to preserve foods from going bad. Therefore, we are to hear from God and shine His light to warn people, and we are to share what is right to preserve God's truth. The people may not listen to us, like God told Ezekiel they would not listen to Him. That must not stop us from warning them, though. That is our calling from God as believers.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 4-6.
