Sheep Without a Shepherd
We don't like feeling helpless. It happens when we get injured, and we can't take care of ourselves as we should. It also happens when we don't have the money we need to pay our bills. However, the truth is that we are all helpless in one very important way. We can't really be fulfilled and satisfied in life completely, unless we know the Lord Jesus, and we are walking with Him each day.
When Jesus came to earth to teach us and to die for us, He was constantly seeing great crowds of people come to Him because they were hungry for more in life. (Mark 6:34) When Jesus saw a large crowd, He felt compassion for them because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and He stopped to teach them many things. Without Jesus, we are all like sheep without a shepherd.
A shepherd makes sure the sheep get fed because they are not able to find their way to the right places to eat and drink. We need Jesus to feed us on His Word and to show us how we can feed ourselves as we read and study His Word. Also, a shepherd protects the sheep who are powerless to defend themselves. We are powerless against Satan without the power of the Spirit in us by knowing Jesus.
The shepherd knows all of the needs of his sheep, and he makes sure that those needs are met because He cares for His sheep. Jesus has compassion on us, and He calls us to Himself, so we can know Him and have our needs met in the right way. If there is any kind of lack or need in your life, I pray you will turn to Jesus, who loves you, and give Him your life. He will meet your needs, and your life will be so much better than trying to do it yourself.
