Filled with Power

We live in a very messed up, evil world. We see sinful things all around us all of the time that are just hard to fathom. It is easy to get discouraged and to feel powerless to do anything about our circumstances. That is not how the Lord wants us to feel. As Christians, we have the Holy Spirit living in us. He is the power we need to make a difference in the world around us.

Micah lived as a prophet of God in a very evil time. The leaders and the false prophets were being brought to shame by the Lord for all of their sinful actions. However, Micah had a different testimony. (Micah 3:8) He was filled with power, with the Spirit of the Lord, and with justice and courage to make known to God's people their rebellious acts and their sins. We have the same power today.

We do not have the power to change people on our own, but the Spirit of the Lord can and does change people. He knows the hearts of people, and He works in the hearts to convict of sin, righteousness, and judgment. No one can ignore the Spirit, but it is up to us to stand in God's power to proclaim the truth of God, as opposed to the wickedness of this world.

We have the power of the Lord to call for justice in our world, and we have the courage to do that, too. Again, this all comes from the Spirit of the Lord being in us and empowering us. If we don't have this power that Micah had, it is because we are not walking in the Spirit. We are not surrendered to the Lord, but we are trying to do things in our own power. We must stop trying to do it ourselves and start trusting the Spirit to fill us with power.
