God's Way is Always Best

Most of us tend to be impatient. We want things to happen as quickly as possible. That is especially true when we take a trip. We want to go the shortest way or the fastest way. The problem is that we can't see all that could happen along that way, so it might not be the best way, at all. That is what happened when God brought the Israelites out of Egypt. (Exodus 13:17) He did not lead them by the way of the land of the Philistines, even though it was near. He knew the people might change their minds when they saw war and return to Egypt.  God did not want that to happen, so He lead them by a longer route that was better suited for them. The Lord could be doing the same thing for us today.

God's way for us leads us to the "Promised Land" that he has prepared for us. Since each of us are different, the way to that blessed place is tailored to our needs. For some of us, we might be able to go the nearest way and get there quickly, because God knows we can endure any of the hardships along the way. However, that is only true for a few of us. Most of us are greatly frightened by conflict and stress. We would rather return to the bondage of the past, instead of fighting for what God has for us. Therefore, God has to take us the longer way. He takes us by that way so we avoid the worst conflicts, and He is able to grow us along the way. He has time to reveal Himself and His ways, so we mature, and we are ready to enter the life God's has prepared for us and prepared us for. Let's not be impatient. Let's just enjoy the journey as we trust Him each day along the way, knowing His way is always best and His destination is far better than what we would have chosen.
