Bread from Heaven

How would the Lord feed 2 million people in the wilderness? He did it very well. He gave them quail for meat in the evening, and He rained bread from heaven every morning. What a gracious, good God! No one would have ever thought of Him feeding His people in such a fantastic way, but He had a definite purpose in doing it that way, as God always does everything with a perfect purpose. (Exodus 16:4,21,31) He told the people to go out every morning and gather the fine white substance that was upon the grass and plants when the dew went away. They were to gather one day's portion at a time. This was to test their faith. God would see if they trusted Him to give them enough for the next day and not hoard up more than one day's worth. (If they did it bred worms and smelled badly.) Therefore, they went out each day to get their bread, and if they did not go early, it melted when the sun got hot. They called it "manna" (Which means, "What is it?") That is what they asked God when they first saw it. It was like coriander seeds; it was white; and it tasted like wafers of honey. YUM! God sure knows how to feed His children.

God took care of Israel in the wilderness, one day at a time. He does the same thing for us today, in so many ways, not only by supplying food. We should get in the habit of waking early and praying for Him to give us, "our daily bread." That shows our trust in Him, and it builds our relationship with our Lord. We should not desire what we need for tomorrow, because worrying about tomorrow, takes us away from trusting God in the present, and it makes us get off base with the Lord. If we do this, by the time we get to the middle of our day, we have all we need. Also, if we do this, God provides us "wafers of honey." His food, both physically and spiritually, is much better than anything we could drum up for ourselves. Let's decide to trust God and watch Him rain bread from heaven every day.
