Confession and Repentance Touch God's Heart

The People of Israel kept on being unfaithful to God each time one of the judges would die. In fact, they got more and more rebellious. Finally, God said that He would not listen to their cries any more. He told them to call on their false gods, if they needed help. That showed how badly they had hurt God with their sins. However, when they finally told God, "We've sinned," and they cleaned house of all of the foreign gods, so they would worship God only, their actions touched God's heart. (Judges 10:15,16)  This shows us a very important lesson for all of us, since we are always being tempted to worship false gods today, too.

A false god is anything to which we give our time, energy, or money, so that we take those things away from God. Our worship is always seen by how we spend our time and money. When we focus on something so much that we put forth our energy that should be used to serve the Lord, we are worshiping an idol. We all need to constantly evaluate how we use all of our resources, and if we see any idol worship, we need to confess it immediately We need to admit to God that we've sinned. Then, we need to submit to God, Who.knows what is best for us. As we submit, we must remove anything that takes our time, energy, and money from the Lord. Then, we need to sincerely worship the Lord with all of our heart. When we do this, God will notice. His heart will be moved to act on our behalf to get us out of trouble and move us into His blessings.
