A Generation that Didn't Know Anything of God

The book of Judges begins with a recap of how Joshua led the people to take over Canaan and then divided the land to the tribes to finish the conquest. Then, Joshua died at 110 years old. As long as he was alive and the generation who knew Joshua was alive, the people stayed faithful to God. However, when that generation died another generation grew up that didn't know anything of God or the work He had done for Israel. (Judges 2:10) How could that have happened to God's people? I am afraid we are on the verge of seeing that happen in America today.

The Bible is clear that each of us has a choice. We can put our trust in the Lord Jesus and be saved, or we can reject Him. It is a very personal decision. As parents, the Lord commands us to raise our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We are told to teach them all of the commands of God and to talk about the Lord with them all of the time. Also, we have the church to help teach our children and to encourage them to come to trust the Lord Jesus. However, if the parents fail and the church fails to do this well, we are always only one generation away from Christianity being extinct in our culture. We have seen this happen in Europe almost completely, and we are experiencing it here now, too. The last statistic I remember was that only 4% of our younger generation goes to any church. That doesn't even mean they are saved, but they are just going to church. Would you pray with me and do your part to pass the gospel on to the younger generation, so we will not experience the extinction of Christianity in the next generation? It is vital that we do our part.
