Sanctify Yourselves

Joshua worked alongside Moses for a long time before he became the leader of the People of Israel. He had seen many miracle-wonders as the people went from receiving the 10 Commandments at Sinai to wandering in the wilderness for 40 years. Now, he was in charge of following the Lord's directions so they would see more miracle-wonders in taking over the land of Canaan. He knew that God would not appear to His people in power unless they sanctified themselves to prepare for His arrival. Therefore, before crossing the Jordan River, Joshua called on the people to sanctify themselves. (Joshua 3:5) When was the last time you sanctified yourself? Could that be the reason you are not seeing miracle-wonders around you?

God sanctifies us when He saves us from our sins. He sets us apart from the world and sets us apart for Him. That is not the end of being sanctified, though. That is just the beginning. Each day we need to sanctify ourselves by confessing our known sins, so God can cleanse us. (I John 1:9) Then, we need to commit ourselves to not be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. (Romans 12:2) We must declare our desire and resolve to set ourselves apart from the world and to set ourselves apart for the Lord. Then, we are clean, filled with the Holy Spirit, and we are ready for God to do His part, which is the miracle-wonders. There is no limit to what we can see happen, when we stay sanctified every day, fully focused on God and ready to be His servants for His work.
