Children Walking in Truth

Christmas is a wonderful time of the year. It is great to watch our children open their presents and to know the presents make them happy. Many people put the utmost priority on material blessings for their children, and they forget the spiritual aspects of their lives. That is a recipe for disaster. Material treasures leave us empty. They will just pass away or be spent on the wrong things. That is why what the apostle John said about him and his children is so important for us to understand.. (III John 4) Let's take a minute to consider what the Lord told Him to record for us.

John must have had a lot of things that brought him joy.  Of course, joy is a fruit of the Spirit, so as we walk in the Spirit, we will have joy. However, there are other things that bring joy, too. John said that he had "No greater joy" than to see his children walking in truth. I say "Amen" to that. He could have meant his own children or his spiritual children as a pastor, but either way this is true. What a fabulous joy it brings when we see our children walk in truth, because we know that no one can take that from them. Also, walking in truth leads to a very fulfilling life of doing God's will for us and doing it well. There is no greater life than that. I pray this Christmas we will put the emphasis on walking in truth not on other presents. I pray we will be examples to our children, and we will see them on the road to a great life.
