Being Missional

The word "missional" is not in the dictionary yet. It is a new term that means to be "on mission," but it is saying that in just one word. Are you missional? Do you have a clear mission for your life? If we are followers of Jesus, our mission should be the same as His mission while He was on this earth, and we should carry it out as He directs us. Therefore, we need to have a clear focus on the priorities of Jesus. We need to understand that He saw Himself as a doctor for spiritually sick people. That is who He came to call to Himself, not the righteous. (Mark 2:18) Let's think about the ramifications of this truth which Jesus gave us.

Yes, we need fellowship with other believers to be spiritually healthy. However, we must not give fellowship all of our time and effort. We must be about reaching out to those who are very needy spiritually and sharing the truth and love of Jesus with them. After all, they are sick in the worst way. Their sickness is sin. If they never know that  Jesus is the only cure that their disease, they will be eternally separated from the Lord in hell. If we meet someone with allergies, we will tell them what has worked for us. If we have had cancer, we share with others how we found healing. Why would we not do this same thing with those who have the most deadly disease of all? I pray that we will be truly missional Christians and our churches will be truly missional fellowships, so that we are calling those who need Jesus to cure their sins, not just calling in those who have already been healed.
