Soft Hearts

We all need soft hearts. A hard heart is a very destructive thing for anyone. When we have a hard heart, we cannot hear from the Lord very well, and when we do hear anything from Him or His Word, we do not do it. Therefore, a hard heart leads us from from the Lord, and our lives get worse and worse because of our sinful condition. However, just like when the people of Israel turned back to God, and He restored them back into the Land of Judah, we can have our hard heart changed into a soft heart. (Ezekiel 11:19,20) When God does that for us our lives are dramatically better. Let me explain.

When God's people sinned, He sent them into exile for 70 years. While there, they learned their lesson and turned back to the Lord. God overthrew their captors, and sent them back home. In the process of doing this God changed their hearts. He does the same thing for anyone who trusts Jesus as Lord and Savior and for anyone who returns to the Lord after rebelling against Him. He gives us integrity of heart. We begin to do God's will in private and in public. He gives us a new spirit, so that we obey God's Spirit as He directs us. He removes the hard heart of stone, and He gives us a soft heart of flesh. Then, we follow His statutes, keep His ordinances, and practice them, all because we want to do His will totally. We have a new relationship with God. We are His people, and He is our God. Have you seen this in your life? If not, I pray you will turn to the Lord Jesus today.
