The Lord has Anointed You

If you are a Christian, God has anointed you. Does that sound strange? I hope not. We do not use the word "anointed" very much, and when we do, we think of a person with a special filling of the Holy Spirit. Well, that is not the exact meaning of the word. The anointing of oil in the Bible denotes the presence and power of the Holy Spirit on a person's life. Therefore, as Isaiah proclaimed about his anointing, all believers are anointed, because we have the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in us to help us do God's will. (Isaiah 61:1) Isaiah told us about his ministry, and it is very much the same as what Christians are sent to do today.

Believers are anointed to bring good news to the poor of this world. We are to tell everyone, both rich and poor, the Good News of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection for our sins to be forgiven. After all, we are all spiritually poor without the Lord in our life. Also, we are sent by the Holy Spirit to heal the brokenhearted. We are God's hands and feet to help those in need of comfort. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, and He will use us to do this in His power. God has sent all believers to proclaim liberty and freedom to those who are captives and prisoners. Yes, they may be in jail, so we are to visit them. However, they could be captives of drugs, alcohol, and other addictions. We have the power of the Spirit to see them set free by coming to know Jesus and following Him. I pray we will all use our anointing every day to do what God has sent us to do.
