None Shall Make Him Afraid

Who or what makes you afraid? I am quite sure that we all could name several people or things that cause us to be afraid. It is a normal human emotion in certain instances to help us be on the alert and protect ourselves. However, God can give us a peace and assurance of His powerful presence that enables us not to be afraid of anyone or anything. Has that ever happened to you? Well, it was His promise to the Jews when they returned to their land after the exile. (Jeremiah 46:27) That sounds like a great place to be in like, doesn't it?

God doesn't want us to be afraid of people or things. He wants us to trust in Him, as we are walking in the center of His will. We should know that He is with us and never forsakes us. We should be able to experience the power, love, and sound mind that He gives us to replace a spirit of fear, which He did not give us. (II Timothy 1:7) So, why is this not happening as often as it should? The answer is simple. We are not confident of His presence in our lives, and His watchcare over us. This lack of confidence is a lack of faith. Sometimes, that comes because we are trying to do things ourselves and to protect ourselves. We need to stop that futile effort and concentrate on Him and doing His will. Then, God can do for us what He promised the Jewish people. He can give us quiet and ease. He can save us from far away. He is able! Let's make sure we have a firm relationship with our mighty God, and we walk closely by His mighty right hand.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 47-50.
