Discipline in Just Measure

God is a very good Father for all who have a personal relationship with Him through the Lord Jesus Christ. He is so wise that He knows just what each of His children need. He is powerful enough to provide whatever we need. He knows how to bless us in just the right measure, and He knows how to discipline us in just measure. (Jeremiah 30:11) We can always count on Him to do exactly the right thing for us, as we trust Him and walk with Him each day. However, the outcome of His discipline is not the same for all people. Let me explain.

God is also holy so He must punish sin. When unbelievers sin, God disciplines them in just measure, but if they do not respond to Him in faith, their discipline could bring them to destruction. God does not want that to happen, but the wages of sin is death. Therefore, if there is no forgiveness for their sins, the end result is bringing them to a "full end." However, believers may be severely punished for sin, but God will not make a full end to them. He has a purpose for the discipline, and when it is accomplished, He comes to save them. That is why I say, we can always trust Him to do just the right thing in the right way.

This same principle extends to countries, as well. When a people trusts the Lord Jesus, they will be punished for sin, but they will not be brought to a full end, like the unbelieving people of another nation. That is what God did to the Babylonians, after He finished using them to discipline His people. The same is true for the USA today. That is why it is so necessary for us to pray for a great revival and awakening, so many people would be saved, and our country could be delivered from a complete disaster.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 31-33.
