Lost Sheep

I wonder how many of us have thought about being "lost sheep." The Bible says that was true of all of us at some point in our lives. It could still be the reality of our lives. How could that be the case? All of us have turned to our own way, instead of God's way for our lives. That is a very serious situation. Sheep that wander off on their own are at the mercy of predators. They have no ability to get back to where they need to be. That is why the shepherd has to go out searching for them, and to do whatever it takes to get them back. (Isaiah 53:6) I am so glad the Shepherd was willing to do that for all of us.

When we went astray and found ourselves lost, without a means of returning to the fold, God took all of our iniquities, all of our sins, and put them on to the person of Jesus Christ as He hung on the cross for all of us. He paid for our sins. He died, so we do not have to die and live forever in separation from God. Then, He came after us until He found us. He revealed Himself to us, so we could return with Him to living His way. However, the choice was our own. We could say "yes," or we could say "no." Which one did you say? Those of us who said no to Jesus are still lost sheep. Those who said yes are securely in His fold forever. Please, listen to Him when He comes and take the first opportunity to turn to Him, trust Him as the Savior who died for you, and to surrender to Him as Lord of your life forever. Then, begin to live in His way, not your own way.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 54-56.
