Leaning on the Lord

People lean on all types of things when they need strength. Some lean on a bottle or a pill. Others lean on people. Israel had been so foolish that they were leaning on the nation that struck them and defeated them. However, they finally learned a great lesson. They started leaning on the Lord in truth. (Isaiah 10:20) The Lord is the Only One who is an unmovable rock and a fortress that cannot be penetrated by any enemy. We all need to learn to lean only on the Lord.

This verse was great for me and for my family, as we have been going through a very trying time. Mom has been very ill and suffering from her recent falls, as well as her back pain. It is very difficult to know everything to do and to say in times like these. However, we have learned, it does not help to lean on anything or anyone except the Lord. Yes, I know we have so many people who love us and will do anything for us. That is such a blessings. I also know that we are family, and we help each other out in any way we can. However, none of that replaces leaning squarely on the Lord for strength and for the answer to every question. He alone knows it all. He is the One who could give us power and peace, even as Mom went to be with Him in heaven. What a joy to know that the Lord Jesus, the King of the universe, stands beside His children and says, "Lean on Me." In fact, when we can no longer walk beside Him because of our weakness, He carries us through. What a Savior and Lord we have!

Tomorrow, I intend to read Isaiah 11-13.
