The Joy of Restored Relationships

Life is all about relationships. At our church we say, "Relationships Matter." Just think of how your relationship with God and your relationships with other people affect your life. Good relationships bring joy and fulfillment, but broken relationships are very painful and destructive. Jacob had a broken relationship with Esau, his brother. Esau wanted to kill him for stealing the blessing from their father Jacob by deceit. Then, when Jacob returned home from years away from Esau, he was so relieved when Esau was glad to see him, and he found favor in his sight. (Genesis 33:10) In fact, he said it was like seeing the face of God to see Esau's acceptance.

Do you have broken relationships? Have you done what you can do to make them right? If not, I would counsel you to pray diligently, and seek how the Lord wants you to cause reconciliation. This is especially true if your relationship with God is broken. God is always ready to see restoration, and most people are too, if they are given some time to consider the bad effects not getting along can bring to them and to others.

Our lives will be so much better, if we will do all we can to walk in harmony with the Lord and with others. We will experience so much more joy when we can extend and receive love from the Lord and those people around us, especially our family members. Let's make sure we major on restoring broken relationships by God's power and grace.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 36-39.
