I Will Never Leave You

Once God establishes His covenant with us, He will never leave us. He may have to punish us, if we fall into sin and rebellion against Him. However, He will be there for us when we turn back to Him. Jacob learned that lesson after he saw the dream of the ladder going to heaven, and God passed to him the same covenant He had made with Abraham and Isaac, his grandfather and father. God assured Jacob He would not leave Him, but He would bring him back to Canaan. (Genesis 28:15) I pray this is an encouragement for all of us, as His children.

Sometimes Christians get discouraged. We feel like God has left us and that He does not care about us any more. That is never true. He never leaves His children. He teaches us lessons by allowing us to go through hard times. He strengthens us during times of trials, but He never leaves us. He has a destination for us in life, and He will see us through to that goal. He will fulfill every promise He ever makes to us. Yes, sometimes we are the ones who fail Him, but He never fails us. I am sure that Jacob wondered about this through all of his trials at the hand of Laban his father-in-law, but in the end God blessed Jacob and brought him back to the land of Canaan. Please, keep on trusting God and keep on knowing that He is with you all of the way.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Genesis 30-32.
