Let Justice Roll Down Like Waters

There is much talk about justice today. So many people feel like they are being treated unjustly. Often, the people who feel that way seem to think that others hate them or at least, want to mistreat them because of prejudice or other reasons. This hostility has brought division to our country. There are protests and counter-protests. However, the only solution to all of this is what Amos told the Lord's people so long ago. (Amos 5:24) I am sure many of us know this famous verse, but we need to take it seriously and make sure our elected officials and judges do too.

God said to "let justice roll down like waters." That is a great picture of abundant justice being poured out for everyone. I believe that was the intent of the Founding Fathers of America, and those who wrote the pledge of allegiance to the flag, "one nation under God, with liberty and justice for all." However, I am quite sure this will not happen until the second part of the verse comes about, "and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream." There will be a lack of justice, as long as there is a lack of righteousness in the lives of people. The only source of true righteousness is Jesus Christ. Therefore, the answer to the injustice in America is a great awakening in which multitudes come to Christ, and righteous rolls down like an ever-flowing stream. Please, join me in praying for this mighty movement of God.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Amos 8-9 and Obadiah.
