God's Prescription for America
When we go to a doctor, sometimes we get a prescription for medication to cure our problem. When we go to the Lord, sometimes He gives us His prescription to cure our ills, too. I believe the prescription God gave Zechariah for His people then fits what we need in America today. (Zechariah 7:9,10) Let's see how it applies.
What we need today is true justice in our land, so that everyone of all races and religions knows they will receive what is fair and just in their situation. This would solve so many of the problems which are causing riots and hatred in our country.
We need to show mercy and compassion to everyone of all races, religions, and backgrounds. This is how Jesus treated everyone with whom He dealt. If we could forget hostility and embrace a true caring spirit for all people, it would solve so many problems.
We must not oppress the helpless people among us, like widows, the fatherless, the aliens, and the poor. The whole country should do what we can to be unselfish in how we take care of those who truly have needs. Yes, we need laws to make sure everything is orderly in our society, but those laws need to take the least of us into consideration, while being economically sensible.
We must stop planning evil against others. This means we do not take vengeance, and we do not make a living through crime. We must work hard and live righteous lives that do not hurt others.
I believe this prescription would heal our land, but we can only receive it as individuals who come to Jesus and are born again by His grace to be new creatures in him. Only then will hearts and lives be changed to be able to do these things. That is why we must pray for a great awakening in America. Jesus is our only hope.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Zechariah 8-11.
