Whatever the Lord Pleases He Does
Ever since Eve was tempted in the Garden of Eden people have wanted to be like God. Eve failed, and we will fail, too, because we can never be exactly like God. One way that people want to be like God is that they want to do whatever they please. That is impossible, even living in a free country like the USA. We do not have the power, wisdom, and resources to do whatever we please. However, God can and does do whatever He pleases, because He is able to do just that. (Psalm 135:5,6) This is very important for is to learn as we know God more and more.
God is greater than all "gods," because they are just idols without the power to do anything. Their only real value is that people decided to worship them, instead of worshiping God. Also, God is not bound by anything except His holy, loving nature, so He can do whatever He pleases, as long as it is right. He has the power, and He has the will to do it. As people, we want to do things, but we lack the "will power" to accomplish many of those things. Therefore, all of this shows that we cannot manipulate God to do what we please. He only does what He pleases, and He always does it perfectly well, even when we don't understand at first. Later we will see that what He did was right.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 136-138.
