Strength in My Soul

King David needed strength, so he cried out to the Lord. The Lord made him bold with strength in his soul. (Psalm 138:3) I believe we all need what David found from the Lord. How about you?

Prayer is a wonderful privilege for all believers, as we cry out to God, and He answers us in His will to meet our needs. It has to be a prayer of faith in the Lord and His will being done. Also, it has to be heart-felt and not just a ritual of praying. God sees our hearts, assesses our needs, and pours out an answer to help us.

Often, we need to be bold. Boldness comes from a confidence in the Lord. We are bold because we know He has heard us and directed us. However, boldness comes from having strength in our soul. Often, we are weak in our mind, our will, or our emotions. That is what makes up our souls. If we are unsure of what to do, we will not be bold. If we are not fully committed to our decision to act, we will not have boldness. When our emotions are out of control and carnal, we will lack boldness. We are truly bold, when we have cried out to God, and He has directed our mind to know the way to proceed, we have the strength from God to hold to His path, and we have the peace that passes understanding to guard our hearts and minds, so that our emotions do not betray us.

This verse shows us precisely why we need to cry out to God for strength in our day of need.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 139-142.
