Servants of God

In both the Old Testament and the New Testament God's people are saved to be His servants. The children of Israel were saved from bondage in Egypt to be servants of God. (Leviticus 25:55) Now, Christians are saved from the bondage of sin to be servants of God. There is no way to overstate the importance of this role.

Jesus did not come to be served, but to serve and to give His life a ransom for many. (Mark 10:45) We are to be like Jesus, so we must be servants as well. In fact, we are to be servants of all people like He was. We are saved by grace through faith, so our salvation is a free gift, not based on works, but on faith in Christ as Lord and Savior. However, our faith leads us to obey our Master, so that our Christian life is a life of service to God to reach this world for Christ.

What are you doing to serve the Lord, because He called you to perform that service for Him? We do not get to choose. He is the Lord your God. If we are not serving God, we are out of His will. Many believers are missing God's will in this area. They are not serving. They seem to think they were saved to sit in church. No one is saved to sit. We are all saved to serve.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 26-27 and Numbers 1-2.
