Whole Hearted Praise

We are commanded to praise the Lord many times in the Bible. However, we should not praise Him just because it is a command. We should praise Him with our whole heart.(Psalm 111:1) Also, we should make it a priority to praise the Lord in the congregation, which is the church. Let me explain.

Praise is very good for us. The Lord inhabits the praises of His people. Therefore, if we will praise the Lord, He will be pleased and draw near to us. We must praise Him from a pure heart and with our whole heart to get the full benefit, though, because God looks at the heart motive of all we do. Also, He looks for the level of our commitment to what we do. That is why we must praise Him with our whole heart, not just half-hearted praise.

When we praise Him in the assembly of the redeemed, we are an encouragement to others, both the believers and the unbelievers. When people see us praising God with our whole heart, it shows them how they could praise the Lord. It shows the unbelievers how serious we are about the Lord and how close we are to Him. This could lead them to be saved. Therefore, we need to be in church praising God with our whole heart whenever we can.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 112-114.
