Continually Praising the Lord

King David's commitment was to bless the Lord at all times, and to continually praise Him with his mouth.(Psalm 34:1) The benefits of living a life of constant praise for the Lord are numerous. Let's explore a few of them this morning.

When we praise the Lord for who He is, we must remember all of His attributes, so we are focusing on His true nature which is perfect in every way. We have the right mindset when we pray because we know He loves us perfectly, and He does things perfectly with His complete wisdom and understanding of everything. We will never fall into the pit of thinking something is too difficult for the Lord.

When we praise the Lord continually, we have to remember that He is the Lord, and we are His people. He is in control, and we are to follow Him, not Him follow what we want. We will not make demands on the Lord, but we will submit to His authority and power. This is the only proper way to live a godly life.

When praise is continually coming from our mouths, others see who the Lord is, and they see our faith in Him, so that they can come to know Him. They are drawn to Him, not drawn to us. They see the truths of the Lord without us having to preach to them.

Praise lifts us up, even in times of trials, because God inhabits the praises of His people. God commands us to praise Him continually, and He blesses us for being obedient to Him. It is very hard to be down and discouraged when we are sincerely praising the Lord, and we have so many things for which to praise Him.

Let's try what David did and see what happens. I believe our lives will be lifted up and so will the lives of those around us.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 37-40.
