The Spirit of God
Where is the Holy Spirit in your life right now, as we begin 2013? Is He hovering over you, looking at your life from the outside?(Genesis 1:2) Does He live in you? If so, what role is He playing in your life? The quality of your life in 2013 depends on the answers to these questions. I pray that we all will spend some time considering the Spirit of God on this first day of a new year.
The Bible tells us that all three Persons of the Trinity were present and active in the creation of the world and of mankind specifically.(Genesis 1:26,27) I like to think of it this way: God, the Father, was the Designer, the Architect of creation. God, the Son, was the General Contractor, who carried out all of the tasks, because everything was created by Him.(John 1:3) God, the Holy Spirit, was the One who supplied the power, the energy, for everything to be created.(Acts 1:8) That is why the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters, as the earth was about to be made into the perfect place for life to spring forth. Without His power the earth would still be without form and void, existing in darkness.
What is the condition of your life right now? Are you in darkness, because the Lord is not in your life? Stop right now to confess your sin and your need for life. Put your trust in Christ, who died to provide for your salvation, and ask Him to be Lord of your life forever. Then, you will have the power of the Spirit in your life to make you into the creation God has designed you to be. If you already know Christ, but there is a lot that needs to be done to conform you to the image of Jesus, then surrender to the Spirit of God. Ask Him to make you into a mature believer. He does not do this all at once, just like God took 6 days to create the world. It comes in stages as you walk with Him each day, loving the Lord Jesus, obeying Him, and allowing the power of God to remake you.
See what I mean? The Spirit of God is the key to your New Year. Without Him we are powerless to see the perfect plan of God for our lives unfold. With Him all things are possible. I pray that you will have a wonderful year, as the Spirit of God moves in your life.
