Polluting The Land
When we think about pollution of the land, we think of dirty water or types of chemical pollution. However, the Bible speaks of a much different type of pollution. God told the children of Israel that the shedding of innocent blood caused the land to be polluted.(Numbers 35:33) That is a spiritual pollution.
There is no question that God holds human life as sacred. It is a grave sin to take the life of an innocent person. In fact, God calls for an atonement to take place after a murder takes place. That atonement is for the murderer's life to be taken. When we read the Old Testament, we see how serious God was about this type of sin and protecting those who were only guilty of manslaughter from being killed in revenge by the family of the victim. Our only conclusion is that God never takes the sanctity of human life lightly.
I believe our land is polluted by blood, because of abortion and all of the innocent people who are murdered all of the time in our violent society. Please, do not think that I am advocating murdering abortionists. However, I am advocating an end to abortion and other senseless violence that results in the death of innocent people. God will not hold us guiltless, if we stand by an do nothing to stop the taking of innocent life. Every life is precious from the moment of conception, and we must do everything we can do to protect life.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Deuteronomy 1-4.
