Christian Friends
God created us all to have an intimate love relationship with Him that is real and personal. Henry Blackaby taught us that in his great book, Experiencing God. There is nothing like having a relationship with the Lord of All. We were created with the ability to have relationships. Our relationship with God is to come first. Our family relationships come next, and then, our friends and acquaintances. Life consists of our relationships.
One of the great blessings of life is to have Christian friends. The bond is so close because we have the same Heavenly Father, the same Savior and Lord, and the same Holy Spirit in us to give us a special fellowship. Don't ever down play the importance of Christian friends.
Today, Chris and I spent the day with Jim and Jeannie Carnes. They are two of our Christian friends from Texas. Their son, Justin, plays football for Kansas University, and they were in town for their game. It was great to see all three of them and to get to visit with them some. Justin was born about the time we went to Bayshore Baptist in La Porte, and now he is a junior in college. It was an honor for him to remember us and want to invite us to see his game. He has turned into a fine, Christian man. His parents have done a wonderful job raising him, and they are very proud of the man he has become.
Those are the kind of people with whom We will get to spend eternity. As I have said in the past, we only have a limited time here to interact with friends and to grow together. In Heaven we will have endless ages to enjoy our relationship with God and with others. That is also, the reason it is so important that we share the Good News with those around us. We want all of them to know the Lord and to spend eternity with Him.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Daniel 6-8.
