A Nation Void of Counsel

I was amazed this morning as I read Deuteronomy 32:28-29. It seemed to perfectly describe the USA in 2011. It says, "For they are a nation void of counsel, nor is there any understanding in them. Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end."

From my perspective it seems that there is a lot of politics going on in our country. People are considering what they need today. The elected representatives are thinking about what they need to do to get reelected. Decisions are made based on what would please certain groups of people. All of this is happening, but there is little consideration of the "latter end." There is little or no consideration of God's "counsel." There is man's wisdom, but not the wisdom that comes from God.

I believe we are getting farther from the Lord and His ways each day, and it will take a drastic turn of events to get our nation back on the right track. We should not be fighting each other. We should be doing what is best for the future of our society, even if it is not what will benefit us personally at the moment. I hope we all will pray for our nation to receive right counsel and to consider our latter end, before we have destroyed our country like Israel did.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Joshua 2-4.

Ask God to show you Christian friends who are out of fellowship with Him and non-Christian friends for whom you should pray. Then, pray that God will convict them of sin, righteousness, and judgment in a strong way.
