The Love of Money
The Bible is very clear about loving money. It causes all kinds of evil.(I Timothy 6:10) It causes people to wander from what they know is right, and it brings much pain. Money is a terrible thing to love, especially when it leads to not loving people.
How many marriages have been broken up over money? I am sure I can't count that high. The stress of money problems brings on a lack of communication, and the relationship goes down hill. Then, when there are disagreements about how to manage the money, the love of money splits marriage. All of this from something that can't bring lasting joy.
I pray that we in America will learn our lesson about loving money. It is never worthwhile. It does not lead to real happiness. It leads to greed and that greed runs over other people to get what it wants. In fact, it is the height of idolatry to love money. People get to the point they will do anything to get a little more. We need to put away this idolatry and put our focus only on the Lord and all things eternal.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Numbers 22-25.
