Truth is Not Relative

So many people have bought into the deception that truth is relative. In other words they do not believe that there are realities that are true at all times and in all places with all people. They think that people make up truth for themselves and whatever the majority of the people believe becomes truth for that society. Some people who believe in God even believe this, because they think that it is impossible for anyone to really know truth, so we just have to do the best we can.

There are a few problems with this point of view that are hard to overcome. First of all, the Bible makes it clear that God is a Person, and He reveals Himself to us in various ways. The ultimate revelation was when Jesus Christ, the incarnate God, came to earth to show us God and to die for our sins. He boldly proclaimed in John 14:6, "I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father, but through me." So truth is not a concept, but a Person. Jesus came to show us the truth and to record it in His Word. A Person can't be relative. Once we know Christ, we receive the Spirit, and He leads us into all truth. He shows us Jesus, and He makes the Word of God clear.

Therefore, to believe that truth is relative, a person can't really believe in the God of the Bible or Jesus Christ. Remember, Jesus was either a liar, a lunatic, or the Lord of all. He wasn't just a good teacher, because if He was not the Lord, He was misleading people. I pray that we will all see that truth is absolute, because Jesus is the Truth.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 37-39.
