Following the Holy Spirit

I am afraid that many Christians do not think about the importance of the Holy Spirit in any given day. They proceed to go through the day and make all of their decisions without any direction or control of the Spirit. Because of this, they totally miss God's will for them.

Why would the Lord sent us the Holy Spirit to live in us if we were not supposed to allow Him to fill us and direct our lives? Is He just supposed to be a silent guess in our lives? Never. He is Lord! He is to be in control for us to function as we should. He wants to fill us and to lead us, but He will not force Himself on us. We have to decide to yield control to Him each day and each minute of the day.

During the day when the Spirit prompts us to make a call or share a witness, it is essential that we obey immediately. When He gives us a shove to go and see someone, we better move. It is God's way of showing us just what we are to be doing. (Ephesians 2:10; 5:18) Without the Spirit we can't know where to go and what to do. We can only make our own decisions, which are usually not God's decisions. (Isaiah 55:8,9) We must tune into the Spirit and start following His leadership to have the peace and joy we so much desire.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Psalms 26-28.
