The Whole Armor of God

This evening at our prayer time we went over the Whole Armor of God from Ephesians 6:10-18. I know that I have written about this before, but I can't overstate the importance of this truth for every believer. God has provided all we need to be saved and to live a victorious Christian life, defeating Satan's every attack. However, we continue to fail, because we do not avail ourselves of God's supernatural armor.

I challenge you to start every day by putting it on. It is a command of God, not just a good idea. Start at the top and go down so you can remember it easily. Thank God for each piece and decide to stand in it that day. The helmet of salvation is our security in Christ. Satan can't take us to Hell no matter what happens. It covers the Mind of Christ, which He gave us so we can think like Jesus. We must allow Him to form His mind in us more each day. The breastplate of righteousness is His gift of pronouncing us righteous before Him when He forgave our sins. We need to decide to live righteously before Him and others in word and action and exhibit the right heart, attitudes, and emotions, since we have a new heart. The belt of truth is His gift of the truth to us. Jesus is Truth, as is the Spirit and His Word. We need to follow His truth in all we do, so we will be oriented correctly toward His truth in all we do, and not be disoriented. The shoes of the Gospel of peace are His ability to cause us to hold firm and not compromise, as well as being a witness to the gospel to those we meet. The shield of faith is God's gift of being able to trust Him, and He will defeat our enemies and quench Satan's arrows. The Sword of the Spirit is God's Word, and He has given it to us to resist Satan and he will flee from us, and we can share it with others to help them. Finally, we have all prayer and supplication, so we can hear from God to know what to do and say all day long.

Now, if we go out each day with those gifts in operation in our lives, we will be victorious over Satan. That is what God intends for every believer every day. Try it and see.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Leviticus 23-25.
