Getting Things Backwards

I especially liked the devotional for today in the Experiencing God Day by Day book by Henry Blackaby. The focal verse was Isaiah 5:20 which says, "Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil, who put darkness for light, and light for darkness; who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter."

I have noticed that Satan has two main strategies in trying to lead people from the truth. His primary strategy is to make a counterfeit of something. It is close to the real thing, but it is off the mark enough, so that people are not obeying God, as they should. The primary example of this will be the AntiChrist at the end of time. He will be a counterfeit Jesus, who will seem good, and then, he will lead people from the Lord. That is what all false Christs and false teachers have done all through the ages.

Then, another effective strategy of Satan is to turn things around and cause people to think in a backward way. He turns things around, and he makes evil good and good evil. We see this all around us. Many people think that adultery is just fine, if someone has a weak marriage. There are many folks who don't think robbing others is wrong, if they can get away with it, or if the other person is wealthy. Many sexual sins are seen as just fine and perfectly "normal" when they are the opposite of what God intended. This strategy has led millions away from the truth of God, because they are convinced that God's way is wrong, and the wrong way is right.

I pray that each of us would ask God to help us stop these destructive tricks of Satan and that we would help others see the truth, too.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Ecclesiastes 4-6 and II Corinthians 12.
