Christian Fellowship

Most Christians have much too low of a view of real fellowship in the Christian sense of the word. They feel like fellowship is a shallow friendship or having a nice meal with someone. Well, that is not Biblical fellowship. When the Bible speaks of fellowship, it means a sharing in the Gospel in such a way that two people are bound together by the Spirit.

Let's say that you are a Christian in China, and it is against the law for you to attend a worship service. You still go to worship, and risk being arrested with about 25 of your closest friends on earth. You sing softly, pray together, and study God's Word for hours. All the while you are doing this because you love the Lord Jesus, and you care for your fellowship believers. That is Biblical fellowship.

Many times we meet with brothers and sisters in Christ, but we never pray together, or even mention the Scripture. There are Christians who have great trials, but they would never mention it to another Christian. They are afraid they will be misunderstood. That is the opposite of fellowship. No wonder people around us don't want to be Christians, if that is all they have experienced with believers. However, if we had real Biblical fellowship, many unbelievers would want to know Christ like that and have friends like that. Lord, please, increase our real fellowship, so we can be effective in this world.

Tomorrow, I intend to read II Kings 19-21 and John 4:1-30.
