Living in Darkness
Back in September I preached a message from I John 1:6 about walking in darkness. Of course the word "walk" means to live, so a person who walks in darkness is living in darkness. Darkness is habitual sin. It is the condition of a person who has never been changed by the grace of God after confessing Jesus as Lord. I John 1:6 is very clear about this condition. A person might say he has fellowship with God, but if he is living in darkness, he is lying. There is no fellowship. There is no salvation and eternal life.
There are many people in this world around us who are deceived, because they once prayed a prayer asking Jesus to come into their hearts, or they told Him they believed in Him, and they would do better. They never confessed Him as Lord of their lives, and there was never a change. They continued to walk in darkness, but they have convinced themselves with the help of Satan that all of their sins are forgiven, so all is well with their lives. It is a terrible condition, but they do not like for anyone to try to show them the truth. They are comfortable in their sin. They like things the way they are. However, God wants us to love them enough to share with them the truth of I John 1:6. Perhaps, it will cause them to rethink their condition and come to Christ. Are you brave enough and loving enough to help someone in that way? I hope so. That is true love. Being silent is not love at all.
Tomorrow, I intend to read Ezekiel 45-46 and I John 2.
