Clothed in Fine Linen

This evening we finished the study of the book of Revelation led by Dr Gene Williams. He did a great job of covering the whole book in 5 sessions and making it understandable. One thing he pointed out tonight spoke to my heart. He used it in his explanation of how to know if a Bible word is literal or symbolic. It comes from Revelation 19:8 where we read that the Bride of Christ, the Church, will be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, which represents the "righteous acts" of the saints. I believe that is significant. That means that all saints or believers have done their share of righteous acts in their lifetime. We are clothed in those things when we get to Heaven and when we return to earth with Christ for the Millennium.

What do you suppose constitutes a righteous act? Is it anything we do that is good, or is it those things we did at Christ's command? Is it when we are obedient to the Bible? Is it when we follow the leading of the Holy Spirit in our lives? I personally don't think it is what we do on our own accord or in our own will. It is when we follow the Lord, because then, we have the right attitude, and it is not for our glory, but His. If that is the case, how many righteous acts do you do each day? How many will there be at the end of your life? Will you have enough to make a good suit of clothes? Let's allow the Lord speak to us about this.

Tomorrow, I intend to read Jeremiah 1-2 and I Timothy 3.
